When to Order Your Lebaran Outfit for 2027

Matching sarimbit batik set for a family ordering ahead of Lebaran

Almost nobody misses Lebaran because the courier was slow. They miss it because the size they needed had already sold out. That is the deadline that actually matters, and it falls much earlier than people expect.

A family set depends on several sizes being in stock at the same moment — which is why it has the earliest deadline.

The 2027 dates

Working backwards only works if you know what you are working back from.

  • Ramadan 1448 H begins around Monday, 8 February 2027.
  • Idul Fitri 1448 H is expected on Tuesday 9 March 2027 according to Muhammadiyah's Kalender Hijriah Global Tunggal, or Wednesday 10 March 2027 by common astronomical calculation.

Neither is official yet. The Indonesian government sets the date through the Ministry of Religious Affairs' sidang isbat, held near the end of Ramadan, so the final date may land a day either side. For planning purposes, assume 9 March — if it moves, it moves later, and you lose nothing by being a day early.

One thing worth noticing: Ramadan falls roughly eleven days earlier each year, so 2027 arrives earlier than 2026 did. If you planned last year by the calendar month rather than the Hijri date, you will be late this year.

Why sizes, not shipping, set the deadline

Shipping is the part everyone worries about and the part least likely to fail. The real constraint is stock.

Popular sizes — M and L for men, S and M for women — go first, and they go well before Raya. Once a size is gone it does not usually come back before the holiday, because workshops are already at capacity producing what was planned months earlier.

This compounds for family sets. A single shirt needs one size to be available. A sarimbit set for a couple needs two. A family of five needs five sizes in the same colourway available on the same day. Each additional person multiplies the chance that one of them is already out of stock — which is why coordinated family orders have the earliest deadline by a wide margin.

Order-by dates for 2027

Counting back from 9 March:

  • Family sarimbit sets, three people or more — order by mid-January. Roughly eight weeks out. This is the one that catches people. You are not waiting on shipping; you are waiting on several sizes existing simultaneously.
  • Couple sarimbit sets — order by late January. Around six weeks out.
  • Individual pieces for yourself — order by mid-February. About three to four weeks out, and earlier if your size is a common one.
  • Anything that needs to reach Malaysia or Singapore — add two weeks to whichever applies above. Transit is 3 to 5 working days to Singapore and 4 to 7 to Malaysia, but those are estimates for normal conditions, and the weeks before Raya are not normal conditions.
  • Rest of world — add four weeks. Standard transit is 10 to 14 working days before any seasonal pressure.

Domestic delivery times

  • Jabodetabek — instant, same-day and next-day options are available.
  • Java outside Jabodetabek — 1 to 2 days.
  • Outside Java — 3 to 4 days.

Look at what those numbers actually mean. Even the slowest domestic route is four days. If delivery were the binding constraint, you could order the week before Raya from anywhere in Indonesia and still be fine.

The deadlines above are weeks earlier than that. Every one of those extra weeks exists for one reason: stock. Shipping is not what you are racing.

Two caveats worth holding onto. These are normal-condition estimates, and courier networks run at capacity in the final fortnight before Raya, so treat them as optimistic in early March. And they are transit times from dispatch, not from the moment you place the order.

The last dispatch date — and why it is not your deadline

Mandalas dispatches until 1 to 2 days before Idul Fitri. Working from an expected 9 March, that puts the final dispatch around 7 to 8 March 2027.

That is the warehouse's cut-off, not yours. The date that matters to you is the last day you can order and still have the parcel arrive before Raya, and that depends entirely on where you live.

Counting backwards from Raya using the transit times above:

  • Jabodetabek — with instant, same-day and next-day options you can realistically order into the final days.
  • Java outside Jabodetabek — allow 1 to 2 days, so order by around 5 to 6 March.
  • Outside Java — allow 3 to 4 days, so order by around 3 to 4 March.

This is the trap. If you are outside Java and order on the final dispatch day itself, the parcel ships — and arrives after Lebaran. The courier did nothing wrong; the arithmetic simply does not work.

And remember these are normal-condition estimates. In the final fortnight before Raya, every courier in the country is at capacity, so leave more room than the numbers suggest rather than less.

Build in time for the exchange

This is the step most people skip, and it is the reason to order earlier than the dates above rather than exactly on them.

If a size is wrong, you need time to send it back and receive the replacement — and that replacement has to still exist in the size you actually need. Ordering at the deadline leaves no room for this at all. Ordering two weeks before it leaves enough.

Reduce the odds in the first place: measure a garment you already own and compare it to the size chart rather than ordering your usual letter size. Our fit and size guide covers the four measurements that decide it.

Collect everyone's measurements once, early — chasing sizes in late February is how family sets fall apart.

A simple plan

  1. Now, through December. Decide who is included and agree one colour. See choosing sarimbit for the family.
  2. Early January. Collect everyone's measurements in one message. Not letter sizes — actual centimetres.
  3. Mid-January. Place family and group orders.
  4. Late January. Couple sets.
  5. Mid-February. Individual pieces and anything you have changed your mind about. Ramadan has already begun by this point.
  6. Last week of February. Stop. Anything after this is a gamble on stock, not on shipping.

If you have left it late

It happens. Three things help:

  • Be flexible on colour, not on size. A different colourway in the right size beats the right colour in the wrong one.
  • Drop strict matching. Agree a palette instead of an identical set — it looks more considered anyway, and vastly widens what is available.
  • Buy for the people who will be photographed most and let everyone else coordinate loosely.

Frequently asked questions

When is Lebaran 2027?

Idul Fitri 1448 H is expected on 9 March 2027 by Muhammadiyah's calendar, or 10 March by common astronomical calculation. The official date is confirmed by the government's sidang isbat near the end of Ramadan.

When does Ramadan 2027 start?

Around 8 February 2027.

How long does domestic delivery take?

Jabodetabek has instant, same-day and next-day options. Java outside Jabodetabek is 1 to 2 days, and outside Java 3 to 4 days, under normal conditions.

When should I order a family sarimbit set?

By mid-January. A family set needs several sizes available at the same time, so it carries the earliest deadline.

When should I order if I am in Malaysia or Singapore?

Add about two weeks to the domestic deadline. Transit is 3 to 5 working days to Singapore and 4 to 7 to Malaysia under normal conditions.

When is the last day to order before Raya?

Dispatch runs until 1 to 2 days before Idul Fitri, but the date that matters is arrival. In Jabodetabek you can order into the final days; in Java allow 1 to 2 days transit; outside Java allow 3 to 4, which means ordering around 3 to 4 March for a 9 March Raya.

What is the real risk of ordering late?

Stock, not shipping. Common sizes sell out weeks before Raya and are rarely restocked before the holiday.

Can I still exchange a wrong size before Raya?

Only if you ordered with time to spare. Build in roughly two weeks beyond the deadline for this.

In short

Idul Fitri is expected 9 or 10 March 2027. Family sets by mid-January, couples by late January, individual pieces by mid-February, and add two weeks for Malaysia and Singapore. Dispatch runs until 1 to 2 days before Raya, but outside Java you need to order by around 3 to 4 March for it to actually arrive. Domestic delivery is 1 to 4 days — which is exactly why the real deadline is about stock, not couriers.
